My name is Amanda. I am a first-generation Laotian American Registered Nurse. I have been a Registered Nurse going on 9 years. I graduated from one of the top Nursing Programs in the country, The Ohio State University. GO BUCKS!!! Currently, I am finishing up my Master of Nursing in Leadership and Administration at Capella University. I have plans to go back for my Nurse Practitioner license. My experience includes working with the elderly in Skilled Nursing, maternal-infant nurse case management for low-income and refugees, behavioral health/psych case management, weight-loss management, and aesthetic nursing.
My hobbies include art and beauty. In addition to being a nurse, I have been a licensed nail tech for 11 years. Not only do I enjoy taking care of others, I enjoy making art and making people feel good and looking their best. I am also a Reiki Practitioner. I learned that we are all made up of energy. When you look good, feel good, and take care of yourself, you can live a much healthier and longer life. This is why I practice holistic and preventative care in nursing.
In the 70’s my family escaped and dodged bullets, bombs, and death in Southeast Asia, Laos, during the Vietnam War. Supported by sponsors, my family came to America literally with nothing in their pockets. They were forced to leave everything they’d known behind. This included their home. It was a matter of life or death.
Growing up, I always felt it was my duty or calling to take care of my elders. However, at the time I did not know why. Fast forward to today. I am 35 years old. I did a lot of shadow work by going through my healing. I learned I was one of the chosen ones to help heal intergenerational trauma, stop limiting mindsets, and ensure the future generation does not experience the same trauma. I am an example that you can change the world and there are no limits to one’s dreams.
I am a single mother to autistic twin girls. Seeing how much strength they have in overcoming challenges and continuing to thrive shows how strong I am as a mother, nurse, and woman. Being one of the first to graduate in my family, is an honor. It’s no wonder I chose nursing. I enjoy supporting and taking care of others. As well as helping them feel and look good. I enjoy helping them learn to navigate a country so foreign to them. I enjoy mentoring the younger generation to achieve their highest potential.
My life experiences and skills allow me to work authentically to give my patients the best
